Today we’re thrilled to announce Rajesh Sabari as Chief Commercial Officer and Tim Mahota as Chief Compliance Officer at Telcoin!

Rajesh Sabari, a Telcoin advisor since 2017, has formally joined the company as Chief Commercial Officer. Rajesh is a seasoned fintech, digital media, and communication services executive with over 20 years of international experience using digital transformative technologies in sales, technical, business, partnerships, and leadership roles for driving growth. Rajesh worked and lived in several countries in Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America and has significant operating experience in shaping growth strategies, program management, business development, opening new markets, and driving turnaround in Asia Pacific and beyond.

Most recently, Rajesh together with his team was responsible for building the partnerships, digital merchants, distribution, and government accounts from scratch into a multi million dollar annual revenue generating business for Mastercard’s Data and Advisory Services business in Asia Pacific (>40% CAGR, among the fastest growing).

Rajesh has also been responsible for international expansion of various AI/big data, managed services, roaming, and telecom services companies and launched three companies’ operations in Japan. Rajesh was responsible for multiple account wins in AP for Amdocs (Large BSS/OSS services provider) and three times winner of exclusive CEO sales excellence awards. Rajesh started his career designing telecom networks (IP/MPLS, ATM, etc.) and as a Cisco engineer was the lead architect driving telecom’s transformation program in Asia Pacific (Telstra, NTT, KDDI, Singapore’s Fiber to the home, etc). Rajesh did his Masters in Business Administration from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business (High Hons), earned an AI Graduate certificate from Stanford, a B.S. in Computer Engineering from National University of Singapore, and is a CFA charter holder.

As CCO, Rajesh will oversee global sales, business development, partnerships, and marketing activities. Rajesh is excited by the potential of Telcoin to power true financial inclusion and decentralized financial services through its mission to bring fast, affordable, user-owned products to every mobile user in the world. Rajesh’s initial focus shall be to bolster the partnerships with key fintechs, aggregators, BaaS providers, card networks/schemes, gateways partners, and mobile wallets so that the rails exist to offer service at scale across geographies and customer segments. Once that is established, Rajesh and his colleagues shall focus on augmenting the telecom partnership sign ups to power Telcoin’s sidechain and self-custody stablecoins transfers globally. Rajesh is also busy looking for attractive talent to join the team. When he is not thinking about Telcoin, Rajesh is an avid mountaineer and skier, and has increasingly been taking his wife and three year old daughter to various national parks around the world.

Tim Mahota, based in Los Angeles, joins Telcoin as Chief Compliance Officer. Self-described as someone who was always interested in the investments markets, Tim started off working nights during college as a stockbroker for a broker-dealer in the US called Kidder Peabody. He went on to earn a Juris Doctorate at Ohio State (Go Buckeyes!) and specialized in securities law by obtaining a LL.M at Georgetown University Law School in Washington, D.C. The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) then recruited Tim to work as an Enforcement prosecutor in their Los Angeles office, where he gained a real appreciation for how a regulator looks at issues and how they decide which matters to pursue. After several years at the SEC, Tim went inhouse as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for a national investment advisor/broker-dealer named Mercer, where he honed his skill for applying compliance regulations to business requirements so that both needs are met. He even started (with a partner) his own Broker-Dealer/Investment Adviser which offered tailored investment solutions for high net worth clients and launched an Exchange Traded Fund.

Later, Tim was recruited by a global fintech called Integral Development in Silicon Valley, where he created trading platforms and implemented/oversaw compliance for Integral’s entities worldwide. In 2018, due to customer demand, the firm launched a crypto trading platform called Mint Exchange, which became the first to obtain a VFA crypto license in Malta to support its operations throughout the EU, US and Asia Pacific markets.

Tim brings a breadth of experience in creating the legal and compliance structures necessary for a startup in crypto to be compliant, and firsthand knowledge of how to implement and oversee needed compliance monitoring programs. He intends to integrate legal and compliance into business governance and product development so that they are symbiotic, which will increase efficiency and time to market. Additionally, Tim will use his skills and experience to create more efficient and integrated compliance solutions and workflows that enhance Telcoin’s growth while also applying available resources in a way that is designed to achieve compliance with all applicable law.

Welcome to Telcoin, Rajesh and Tim! Now let’s go Send Money Smarter.
